Design and Verification – City and Guilds 2391-20
This course is what used to be known, and still is by many in the trade, as the 2400, the only difference being City & Guilds’ change of course number. This qualification has three elements to it, those being a written exam, a design project and a practical test and inspection exam. The practical element is transferable from the 2391-10 Inspection and Test course (or the older 2391), which we require as an entry qualification. This therefore does not get repeated as part of the 2391-20 at Erudite. The course therefore centres on how to correctly design an installation, to BS7671, including a comprehensive range of cable calculations, and a refresher on Inspection and Test. Further to this, we will support and guide you in the completion of the design project, and the structure of the course is such as to allow time to do this in a combination of class and ‘homework’ time. The written exam is at a time and date set by City and Guilds.
This course is of obvious benefit to those designing installations, but is also considered highly valuable to those Inspecting and Testing. It gives a level of understanding that makes any test readings relevant. Just because a reading complies with a figure from BS7671 does not make it the correct reading for the circumstances. Having this deeper knowledge makes the process much more reliable.
For entry onto this course you require City and Guilds 2391 or 2391-10 and be able to produce an original certificate to that effect. It is also strongly recommended that you have one of the 2382 wiring regulation qualifications.
